Untitled(Gallery 101, Ottawa, Ontario)
This piece was an outdoor installation in conjunction with Gallery 101 in Ottawa, Ontario. For this project, I worked outdoors for three weeks wrapping a tree with a sewage pipe. Part of the intent of this piece reflected an environmental concern about industrial waste, which was very topical in the 1980s, and part of it was my desire to reconfigure the tree through drawing gestures into a more figurative essence.
